The Director’s Council is a representative group of ABE directors that provides statewide participation and voice in all ABE program related issues, decisions and agenda through a regional leadership infrastructure. Its purpose is to promote quality learning through inclusive communication and solution-oriented collaboration

Membership on Director’s Council
Director’s Council members serve for two years and are elected by regions. New Mexico’s DC regions are Central, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, and the Southwest region. The Correctional Facilities member is an appointed member on the Director’s Council.

Two years as an ABE administrator in New Mexico; commitment to attend and actively participate in all DC meetings; willingness to contribute in research and policy committees and commitment to the mission of the DC. A six-month mentorship is recommended. The mentorship can be arranged by simply letting your DC rep know of your interest.
The Chair of the Director’s Council serves as chair for 2 years. The Chair does not represent a regional area while serving as Chair of the DC. But the chair does need to have been on the DC as a regional representative before assuming the position of DC Chair. The Chair is selected by their peer’s on the DC.
